Don't you hate it when....

Ok, so no knitting news here. Yeah, I am working on the same two things. Well, actually there are more than 2 things (there are 4 but does Mr. Yarn need to know this? No.) So, knitting on the same stuff makes for boring blogging fodder. I mean how many times can someone show the progress of the same item? BORING (as if this isn't). Ok, so I am going to have one of those blogging moments when I make an omission. It more of one of those Andy Rooney things where he says "Don't you hate it when...." Here it goes:

How many of you still have your Halloween candy? I went into the pantry the other day and realized that I still have a bowl of this candy. It is wrapped. Um, how old is old candy? When does cheap candy go bad? Come on, you all have something old in the pantry. Give me your best one (no lies though because I will KNOW if you are lying) and you will win a prize.

I have buckwheat pancake mix that I bought a gazillion years ago. But that makes sense, because who wants to eat something that tastes like an old lady's armpit? No one. Having leftover candy, on the other hand, is just crazy.

CanNOT relate to leftover sugar. I have a can of canned hearts of palm (what the *(*&#@$ is hearts of palm and why on earth did I think I would ever use it?) that I've had since probably 1986.

Hearts of Palm are good. Taste em. Buckwheat sucks, throw it out.

hi janis!
it's tammy from the knit group last night.
just last week i was so bored that i decided to take on the depressing task of cleaning out my pantry... and you know i am really embarassed to admit that i came across a very very old package of easter peeps, the yellow chicks!! i know just how old these were because they were a gag gift from a dear friend, and there was a gift tag on the pack w/ the date, 1996. they were still bright yellow!!
now that in itself is embarassing, but the fact that i moved into this current house almost a year ago means that for some reason i packed these marshmallow devils and brought them to my new house!! finally i parted w/ my sugary past, alas they are now trash, sweet sweet trash.
btw...janis yesterdays post on your father's sweater made me misty! that is a great story.

Um, I have a package of 3+ year old peeps...I'm not sure why I'm keeping them...they are already like concrete...they still look adorable of course...

I actually cooked and consumed half a package of noodles last night that were quite possibly 2 years old if not older. I was desperate for some food and in no mood for anything that required actual cooking. They were a tad stale, but otherwise no crappier than usual.

I too don't get the concept of "old" candy. Anything sugary or vaguely chocolately doesn't last long at our house.

In my defense here....
I ate all the good stuff. There is just like stuff I don't like left. I mean if there were "Lemonheads" in there they wouldn't stand a chance at survival.

I'm sorry to say, I have a box of generic cornflakes that are 4 years old. They've been hidden in plain site on the top shelve of my pantry. *sigh*

Sugar has no chance of lasting in my house. In fact, I cannot even get it to the pantry. There is some force field in my doorway that attaches the sugary sweets to my hand! The only way I can get the bag to let go is to empty it. What I must do to prevent myself from showing up at work with Twizzler's attached to my hand. I should probably look into that force field thing, shouldn't I?

Wait! If *I* had Twizzlers they would not be sittin around getting stale. It is the Bottle Caps and Nerds that are sittin there.

Condensed milk. Canned. At least five years old.

Another can of condensed milk that is seven years old.

I cleaned out my pantry last weekend. First time in 3 years. I threw out some grits that were older than my 9-year old son....we still have a bunch of his Halloween candy, but only the yucky stuff.

Should I FedEx some twizzlers to you? I can do that! and I would, too!
