Baby sweater

Baby sweater

I am almost done with this baby sweater. I had to rip out the beret and I will have to start over but the sweater is almost done.

Back to work today. It was wonderful having 5 days off!

Do you know of anyone that wants a job in Alameda in a yarn store? No joke. I am looking for someone to work.

Cooking is the best!

Yum

A friend of mine bought me and Mr Yarn cooking lessons at Ramekins in Sonoma. She went with us. We did a New Orleans Jazz Brunch that consisted of:

Bourbon Street Sparkler (with wine and bourbon whoooo hoooo)
Beignets and Cafe au Lait
Eggs Sardou-poached eggs in artichoke bottoms nestled in creamed spinach, topped with Hollandaise sauce.
Shrimp Etouffee-served in a flaky vol-au-vent puff pastry shell
Andouille Sausage and Potato Hash
Bananas Foster
Creole Prailes

It was good. What can I say? After we did that we went to Mt Tam and sat around at the Inn up there drinking wine and eating cheese. A great day.

While in Sonoma we stopped at a nursery and I adopted this weird little plant. They guy called it a pregnant onion.

There is no place like home

Home home home

I just wanna stay home today. Wish I could. I think I am getting Agriphobia. Shutup...not really. It is just that I am finding that the little time I have to myself that I just want to stay home. As a matter of fact I want to stay home during the time I don't have to myself.

This weekend Mr Yarn and a friend of ours and of course ME are taking a New Orleans cooking class at Ramekins in Sonoma. Monday is a BBQ at a friends house. Should be fun!

Garden

raised garden beds

We planted our raised beds last night. We planted a bunch of herbs (mostly basil) and vegetables. We planted black-eyed peas, beans, leeks, Bok Choy, Pimento (to smoke in the smoker and make that smokey paparika) and I don't remember what else.

In these tubs are peppers that Mr Yarn wants to put in the smoker to make his own chipotles.

Peppers

Lastly here is a picture of our planting table with odds and ends of stuff that needs to be planted. I am not even sure what is there.

Knitting? Yeah, but it is all the same stuff.

Knitting is good

IMG_1443

I am rolling along on Ballerina. I love the construction of this sweater. It never gets boring to knit on. I forgot to bring home the baby sweater I am doing at the shop. It is coming out great and all I have left are the sleeves.

So, I am hunting down the original yarn that Starmore's Aberlady was done in. It is discontinued but I have to find some. I know I did this sweater already but I want to make another one.

To jog the memory this is the one that I already did.

Blog blahs

Don't have anything to say or to show you but you know damn well that I can't just say nothing. So, I am working on the baby sweater for a friend, and the Ballerina jacket (which is REALLY fun to knit) and I am just burnt out and tired. I don't even have a picture.

Steph: It is ok the kids didn't take the owl barf. YES, I am REALLY excited about Annie getting married!

Jennie: Yarn I showed back a few was from an online company called Frangipani Guernsey yarns.

Sorry I pooped out on this post but I will be back after the weekend.

I don't usually do this but...

I don't usually post two things in one day, but I saw this on Martin's blog and it really just blew me away.

Ok back to knitting.

A little detour

IMG_1441

I had to start this sweater yesterday. It is out of Cashsoft Baby DK. I promised to make it for a friend to give as a gift. Hey, I finished most the back already so it won't be a long detour.

Went to go look at the Brazillian Room for Annie's wedding last night and we ran into two other couples there that Annie and Tim know that are getting married. I think that this spot was a no.

You love me anyhow

IMG_1440

Know what this is? This is something that I started because I couldn't feel my hands anymore after working on the 40lb Dale sweater. Besides that I am sick of it and not even sure it will look good on me. I digress. I am doing this one because it is somewhat interesting construction and technique. Guess what it is. It rhymes with Big Butt.

Bodega Bay

bodegabay

This is another sweater that I am thinking of doing next. It is Alice Starmore's "Bodega Bay". This is the sweater that Mr. Yarn got me the yarn for my birthday.

The yarn is pistachio in color:

Bohussy!

My beautiful sweater

All done and sewn together. I just have to wash and block it. Too bad that now I am done it is in the 70's and getting hotter. I love this sweater and don't have enough good things to say about working with this yarn.

What to do?

Double_Happiness

Next project! I don't know if I want to do this kit that I got from "Twisted Sisters" or if I want to do something else. Other things that I am thinking of is another Bohus sweater, or Alice Starmore "Bodega Bay", or Cheryl Oberle's "Three Sisters" or the big butt sweater Hanne Falkenberg "Ballerina" (shutup..it is a challenge and doesn't matter if you think it will make my butt look big)

Almost there

almost done

Mr Yarn is out of town and I have been knitting lots. I am almost finished with the body of the sweater. Just the sleeves and then steeking. I need to find a sewing machine this time. I am stupid twice in a row.

Gimme Your Stuff

Food

So, I was asked what do I have to offer for swap in the "Gimme Your Stuff fun, boy oh boy. I am in Northern California and I gotta tell you that there is tons of stuff. If you can think of something that you want from the United States, I can probably find it. So, you ask me what it is that *I* want? I am usually looking for things like Tasmanian honey, or some weird herb that I need to cook with. So lets swap!

Another day

IMG_1423

My dog wouldn't cooperate and she hates me taking pictures of her ever since I started this blog. So, unless I wanna whine about how I either need a root canal or to have the tooth pulled (they don't know which one yet) I will show you yet another picture of Sirdal. Boring.

Spring Fever

IMG_1421

I really want to be hanging out in the yard drinking margaritas. It is beautiful outside. I can see BBQ time on the horizon.

Uh, Mr Yarn, you need to mow the lawn.

Another day

IMG_1417

I didn't get too much done on my sweater. This sweater feels like it is just dragging along. That is because it IS just dragging along. I have to say that ONE Dale sweater goes a long way.

IMG_1418

Mr. Yarn bought me three cones of Frangipani Guernsey wool to make Alice Starmore's Bodega Bay sweater. I wish you could see the color better. It is Pistachio. It is beautiful. Who knows when I will get to that.

IMG_1420

We had a great time yesterday. We went to the International Food Fair in Berkeley and hit up lots of international markets. I did some shopping at the Spanish Table and a Spice shop and a Middle Eastern market. We had lots of fun.

IMG_1419

We did some cookbook shopping too!!
