The trash man is LOUD

Trash

I have never lived anywhere in my life that I was woken up by the trash man. I don't mean the dog barking at the trash man, I mean the trash man himself. He makes my life miserable. He yells to the other trash men, he plays his music so loud (are they allowed to do that?) that it is loud for ME and I am nowhere near it. If it were just the banging of trashcans I would say that he couldn't help it, but the stuff that is loud he can help. He wakes me up every wednesday and then I feel grumpy.

So if you come into the shop today and I grunt, you know why.

Ours are pretty loud, too, and not always very careful about the integrity of our trash cans. But I say it's a nasty job and I am so incredibly grateful for it. Someone comes and takes our trash far away! It's a small miracle :)

My trash is full of coffee grounds, catpoop and rotting banananas. I'll let him yell if he wants to *g*

That being said, I don't usually hear mine as I'm either taking four littlegirls to school or in an alcohol-induced coma due to having to take four littlegirls to school ...

You both have good points, but it isn't a free service. They aren't doing this out of the goodness of their heart. We pay for it. Every month I get a bill.

My garbage man is not excessively loud, and he comes at around 5 in the morning. We hear the trucks, but never any kind of yelling, or music. I'm sure I don't pay more for that level of service....

I think he's a freak occurrence.

Sorry about that.

I'd call Alameda Waste Management and complain. You are a paying customer and deserve not to be woken up.

One morning (in Oakland), I heard music blaring from the street. I was awake, but it was still quite loud. I went out and said something to the guy, who was fairly polite about it.

Complain, and they'll be dumping your trash all over your yard. If you complain, only give them the block, not your specific address. Or better yet, give them a neighbors address, blame on them. Mine are very quiet, but, I'd be pissed if it went past trash can movement. They should be considerate to people who are still sleeping, the paper-person would be included in that too!

when you complain, they take your account number. but I still say complain - just be patient. we used to have the best garbage man ever (I mean all of the people on the street gave him Christmas presents - that good - unfortunately (for us) he got a better job closer to home) and he was off for a while and I complained about the sub - 3 months later my guy comes and asks what was wrong because there was a complaint listed - no info on why - just that it came from my address.
