My head is moldy

I swear that I have felt rotten going on 3 months now. I think that all this rain has caused my head to mold. You know I have never seen this much rain in all my life. So, the allergist thinks it is a sinus problem. Antibiotics and this nose stuff. I am not putting anything in my nose. I would make a horrible drug addict. I did agree to take the antibiotics for 2 weeks though.

I whine when I don't feel good. Did you notice?

Squirrel Monkey

squirrel monkey

Sorry about the fuzzy picture. This is the back of my sweater that I am working on at the shop. It is called Squirrel Monkey and it by Jolene Treace. The yarn is Finullgarn. Slow going but worth it. My camera sucks.

Back to normal

back to normal

I think that things are getting back to normal. Thank god.

I love this sweater

Soft

This sweater is one of my favorites that I have ever worked on. Not sure I will say that when I get to the black stockinette that goes on forever. For now I am loving this sweater.

Lily update: Thanks for all the concern and good thoughts. She is doing much better. Mr Yarn found that she has a tooth that is broken off to the root (couldn't see in her mouth before because it was too swollen). So, it isn't a spider bite (which makes ME feel better). She goes back to the vet today to be checked and most likely will have the tooth removed.

Movin slow

got more done

I waited all day to come home and work on this. I got a whopping 2 rows done because I was spending time with the doggy.

Doggy update: She had 106 fever and some nasty infection. They gave her IV antibiotics and 3 liters of fluids. She came home with us and I am taking her back today. Doctor said that it is either a really bad infection of the gums/teeth or that she was bitten by a black widow. At any rate she seems to be a bit better this morning and I will take her back to the vet now.

My doggy doesn't feel too good

Sick doggy

Lily is sick. We need to take her to the vet today. It is so sad that she can't talk and tell me what is wrong. One side of her mouth is really swollen. I am really worried about her. She won't even eat.

I am also worried about my other girl Annie. She hit a loveseat that was sitting in the middle of the freeway last night. She didn't get hurt but her car did. Bad week for me.

Happy Birthday to my blog

birthday candles
It is my blogs birthday today. I started this silliness a year ago. I just want to say thanks for all your comments (I love comments). I also have loved sharing some of my life with you.

Sometimes you just have to move on

lace

No more. I can't do this piece of lace anymore. As a matter of fact I can't do the Zauberflote anymore (right now but I will get back to it one day). So I have moved on. I am starting something that inspires me and makes me want to knit again. It is called "Big Collar" and is from the Bohus Museum.

Bohus sweater

It is going to get to a spot that is miles of stockinette on size 1 needles and black. I am sure that the infatuation will wear thin. The only difference is I WANT this sweater.

I swear that I will get back to Zauberflote...I swear.

Home home home

We are back. Here is a very mini chronicle of a really fun weekend. We started off by going to Napa to do just a little wine tasting. Of course I took the Crochet Dude with me.

Crochet Dude in Napa

After meeting up with rain and hail we arrived in Isleton. This was on the B&B door.

Daze Inn

and this is for Lisa... Hey Lisa, the sheets WERE really clean.

Proof

The room was great and the murder mystery was a blast. Oh, and what would a trip be without going to do MORE wine tasting. Bill our host took us to a winery that didn't have a tasting room and that wasn't open to the public. The wine was really really good. It was called Erhardt.

Nothin much

I don't have anything to show you. That doesn't keep me from blabbing on. Gonna be away from the ole blog for a couple of days but if you are good there might be some pretty funny pictures and a story I will tell ya.

Don't fight and listen to grandma.

Look what we have here

more lace

My lace shrunk and turned a different color. I hated the cashmere that I was doing the other one in. I have never met a bad cashmere until now. The one that I switched to is beautiful. I got it from "Just Our Yarn".

Housewarming gift

Don't ask

I don't know if you can see that blob on my pavement but I was too cold and lazy to go out in the rain to get a good picture (ok, no one said I was a photo journalist in real life). Know what that is? It is Guano. Yeah it is. It is owl poop. There are about three of them under the huge palm trees (I call them "the girls") and Mr Yarn verified for me that he kicked the poop and there are indeed bones and stuff in that poop. So this means that I have an owl for a pet as well as Lily (and dog number 2 that I just KNOW Mr. Yarn is getting me for my birthday) and the cats. I have an owl! Only problem is that I have never seen anything of the owl other than the poop. Still, isn't that sorta exciting? The owl lives in MY tree and all I got was this lousy poop...

Onto other things. I got pretty far with the lace that I was doing. Check it out

A taste of lace

IMG_1344

I started a piece of lace out of laceweight yarn. Ok, not any yarn. It is Cashmere. I got this free pattern at See Eunny Knit blog. She is teaching how to do lace right now. I just loved this pattern.
So, I am trying. I had to put down the sweater from hell just for a little while. I promised myself that I would go back to it next week.

Oh phooey

my doggy

Not much to tell ya about today. Found out yesterday that the Alison Krause concert that Mr Yarn and I were suppose to go to on Saturday has been postponed. Oh well.

Alright already

IMG_1339

Thought I would update you on this stupid sweater. I am so sick of it I could spit. I am almost to the neck steek. I swear that the thing is going to come down to my ankles. What was I thinking? I have to finish it though. I have to.

I want to make this

pattern06l

This pattern is from Windy Valley Muskox. I love it. It is made out of Guanaco. It takes three skeins. At 70.00 a skein that would be 210.00. Too much. So, I want to make it out of something else. Any suggestions? Gauge is 6 sts to the inch.

Welcome Squirrel Monkey

IMG_1338

Say hi to the new sweater I started. It is called Squirrel Monkey and the pattern is by JoLene Treace. I am going to be carrying her patterns. I love them. Anyhow, the white on the bottom is just provisional caston so it will not be there when I am finished. This is really fun to do. I am doing it out of Finullgarn.

So, I know you are asking what happened to "Jinny". Well, Jinny turned into a sample not a sweater. I had a customer buy the bag of Cotton Glace that I had put aside for this sweater and I rather the customer had it than *I* did. It is ok. If ya wanna know the truth I was getting reallllllly bored with knitting that sweater. What else is new?

That is about all.

Jinny

Jinny

This is what I am working on at the shop. It is "Jinny" from the new Rowan magazine. It is fun to knit with beads. For a better look double click on the picture to see the detail.

I gotta say that I am itching to start something else. I am thinking that I might have to start the Dale sweater I got the yarn for.

I can't stop

IMG_1336

I bought the Fushia felted bag kit from the Nicky Epstein book. I met her at stitches this year. What a nice woman. These bags are works of art and I just thought that I HAD to have a sample of it in the shop. I am going to be carrying the Jamiesons yarn soon.

Like I needed it

Transitions

Brought more yarn home from the shop. I had to have this Noro Transitions in this color. Already have the greens in my stash but I needed this too. Not sure what to make out of it yet.

Oh yeah, and Monte bought me the anniversary edition of Dale of Norway and I have to make this sweater so I ordered Strikengarn yarn (I don't like the Dale yarn) to make it. I brought that home too.

Sirdal sweater

I am making myself finish Zauberflote first. Yeah, right.
