I want to make this

pattern06l

This pattern is from Windy Valley Muskox. I love it. It is made out of Guanaco. It takes three skeins. At 70.00 a skein that would be 210.00. Too much. So, I want to make it out of something else. Any suggestions? Gauge is 6 sts to the inch.

Something with silk? Hey, how 'bout qiviut(sp)? I crack myself up. . .

Oh yeah, something like a silk/wool blend would be gorgeous.

I bought this pattern, too! Don't you think it's silly how they stuck a chopstick through it in this picture and called it a "capelet?" It's an awful pic -- it was gorgeous in person @ stitches. I'm glad I saw it. I was wondering what yarn to use also... thinking I might see if my 3 skeins of qiviut would make it (I bought it years ago to make a scarf for my brother and then decided I was attempting to buy his love, and I shouldn't bother. :)

You can always default to that old stand by: cashmere!

what about Silky Wool. It has a wonderful drape to the finished project. knits at 5.5 sts/inch on size 6 needle. A bit more less tramatic for the price.

Guanaco isn't bat poop, is it? No, that's guano.

It's lovely!
